What happens after.......
by Survive1999 inso i'm interested for all you folks that have come out of the watch tower society, are any of you still religious, believe in god or the bible?
interestingly enough, i picked up a origianl copy of "studies in the scriptures" published 1915 with reprinted tracts in the back that talk about armegedon in 1914. big funny!
i keep it handy near the front door.

it would be nice if the reality I experience had some concrete stability to it which I could nicely fit into some purely materialist theory or find ultimate answers with just the matter and energy we are able to measure, feel, etc. but it had not turned out that way... I have experienced some really odd things since my exodus from JWs and even prior to it.... things which tell me that the purely physical way of seeing things cannot give me satisfactory answers.
I have experienced several apparent past lives, I have seen things vanish right in front of me and turn up in other rooms, I have used a soldering iron and later found it had not been plugged in... and I know of very few who have lead a completely "normal" materialistic life free from such anomolies.... I have theories which can account for it all, but if they are correct, the world is not what it seems...and ultimately is sort of materialisticly based, but in multiple dimensions, which seems to match current physics...especially membrane theory in eleven dimensions.
so I no longer believe in any human mythic god[s] as found in the bible and other cultural myths...but I do believe that what we are is more god like than we currently can appreciate.

Personal "God" and self-representation
by Narkissos init is commonly assumed that monotheism, in its jewish, christian and moslem forms, resulted in (or was related to) a specific development of human self-representation.
before a unique creator and judge the individual had to stand as an indivisible unit (e.g.
the "soul" in the middle ages) which was either justified or condemned, either saved or lost.

with the death of a personal god representation came the realization of the oneness of all things which I am a part and so it is really all me... there came an awareness of many AND one at the same time.
in Acts 17:28 paul quotes a pagan pantheist who seems to sum it up nicely
in HIM we live and move and have our being

we are many individual programs running on a single computer.... many AND one.
you can call the ONE, GOD if you like...but it is not the god of any human myths, just reality itself moving by its eternal
nature which it did not have any say in.... we are waves upon that one ocean.... we are the light of that one sun
the many songs of that one singer.

Bible Reading Leading to More Doubt Than Faith... :(
by jeanniebeanz inok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.

even if there is a god or gods, what guarentee any of them are sane?
seems to me that the bible god is not all that sane, supposedly knowing exactly what his children would do long before he made them, and yet get supprized when they go astray and angry because they dont listen to him... dont sound very sane to me.
love your neighbor, shoot to kill shoot to kill.....

its not well publicized but there are cars which run on nothing more than compressed air.
The car's air tanks will be refilled thanks to the engine working in compressor mode. This will take about six hours. Otherwise the tanks can be refilled with high pressure in three minutes at an air station. The cost of refueling with the generator will be approximately 1.5 Euros.

What more is there to the equation than "happiness"? It's not enough.
by AlmostAtheist inthe thread on "happy jw's" got me to thinking about this.
there really are some truly happy jw's.
maybe it's because they don't take all the "do more, do more" stuff to heart and just do what they think is "enough".

happiness comes at the satisfaction of any stimulas hunger.... not just a food hunger, but any particular hunger that may arise... it lets us know that we have accomplished whatever our mind thought we needed to at the time... which is a key, what we THINK we need is often far more a factor than what we do need.
we cause a lot of un-necessary stimulas hungers when we compare the reality of the life we lead to one we have come to believe we were cheated out of or let slip away or somehow could have had but somehow did not....instead of simply accepting what did happen as it did happen.
but once satisfied, a new hunger is quickly discovered and so it begins again...and there are only rare moments when we truely feel satisfied for any length of time...usually thanks to a liberal application of opiates called endorphins... a feeling of euphoria and satisfaction that tends to last only a few moments...but is so powerful that its triggering accounts for much of what drug users and others who violate laws and morals do.
so addictive that when given a means of self-stimulation via the tapping of a metal bar, mice have been known to starve to death.
understanding that this elusive goal of stimulas hunger is often only a pill or snort away has lead many to abandon normal lives and pursue the "easy" way...which is often no so easy and frought with its own terrors....such as going to prison or being killed in a bad drug deal etc.
